As in all industries, the trend is towards more automation. Although we strongly recommend that a system used to monitor the entire water-steam cycle in a power plant not only be operated and monitored remotely, there are solutions to automate the operation of the sampling system.

The following solutions are available for this purpose:

Motor valves, solenoid valves or pneumatic valves that can be controlled directly from the control room. E.g. for:

  • Shut-off and blow-off valves with actuator
  • Temperature protection devices that can either be controlled or shut off according to the stored programs.

Advantages:

  • Remote operation and control possible automatically
  • Automated temperature protection possible

Safety shut-off system

Safety shut-off systems are used to shut off the sample flow when the sample temperature is too high, such as when the cooling water fails or when the sampling cooler is defective. They prevent extremely hot sample material from flowing through the measuring instruments and destroying them or injuring operating personnel.

PE 74

AutoSafe mechanical safety shut-off system. It uses a thermostat system for the switching operation and is therefore independent of a power supply. It can be used for pressures up to 300 bar. A signal contact for fault indication or as a switching contact is available as an option.

PE 79

Electronic temperature switching device TempControl. The TempControl detects the temperature at the sample outlet and activates the associated safety shut-off system when a freely selectable limit temperature is exceeded. The system remains closed until the fault has been rectified and the corresponding acknowledgement has been received. During the fault, a potential-free contact signals a corresponding alarm.

Elektrisch angetriebener Absperrkugelhahn mit Temperaturschaltgerät TempControl. Das klassische Absperrsystem mit Schließzeiten < 15 s ist für den Einsatz im Hochdruckbereich bis 400 bar geeignet.

Alternativ können außerdem Pneumatikventile (Druckluft gesteuert) mit Schließzeiten < 1 s eingesetzt werden.
